I found some more info on Sgroi, Sgurós, sguros, etc - apparently there was
a guy named "Leon Sguros" from the byzantine empire which I beleive is modern
day turkey. Tthere has been soem mix ups on whether sgurós is Greek or T]urkish but
its seems more than likely to be Greek. I also kept seeing info that says "Sgurós"
mean culry hair. It's important to note that "Leon Sguros" is not spelled with a
accent mark above the "O". which may have confuse matters. Also, the
full prhase "Basíleios Sgurós", "Basíleios" also appears to be some kind of
ruler from back then, so who came first: the pepole or the word?
Ii read a webpage
that describes how over time the combination of letters "os" was replaced by
"oi" .I found most of this out by typing in "sgroi" or "Basíleios Sgurós" into
diffrent search engines. I had to translate a lot of pages. I'm going to check and
see if there is a greek language teacher at my collge. I'll keep you up to date. Byzantine Empire, Eudoxia Komnene Angelina
